Have you ever sat and considered watched the size that a crow can oftentimes obtain? They are really not a small size bird in the least. Most locations in America have an over plenty of these fat creatures which often mature to the size of a Cornish game hen. To me that’s large sufficient to feed two adults with a meal and for them to leave the table full. In an emergency, merely add some cooked rice or potatoes along with a few vegetables to the meal and you’re all set.

Although some of the states regulate the hunting of crows, they still are a viable selection when the balloon goes up and food becomes highly scarce. Explore any good survival book and chances are great that it will tell you that just about any bird can be eaten while an urgency situation. In my belief those words indicate that any meat that is slow cooked will come to be a feast when there is no other food to be had.

The seminar used most often by those in opposition to eating crows is that they are full of bacteria or harmful viruses. In all reality this is nothing short of an old wives tale. The mere act of frying or of roasting the crow will be sufficient to kill any harmful parasites, bacteria or virus that the bird may be carrying. All that is critical is to ensure that the meat is cooked to an inside temperature of 180 degrees.

To be sure it is properly cooked boil the crow for a period of 30 minutes to ensure that it is completed heated all the way through. This will also tend to soften up the meat and make it more palatable. Let’s keep in mind that while any sort of emergencies you don’t want to get sick. It is better to cook it a bit longer and be safe than not long enough.

If you were to retell some of the cookbooks from the first half of the century you would really scrutinize that crow was one of the more favorite meats available. Possibly you may recall how your grandparents discussed the production of blackbird and crow pie when you were a youngster. With the addition of a few good spices and some cooked vegetables you will find that the crow resembles a duck somewhat in its flavor.

During the depression the crow served as a major source of food since it was “fair game” and when worse comes to worse the bird will likely regains its former fame. It is well worth becoming well-known with this bird before you find it critical to eat it.
