When looking at survival outdoor gear, you will undoubtedly want to be looking at quality. It would very frustrating to have all your survival packing done and ready for that occasion when you are needing to grab it at the drop of a hat and run – only to gawk within a few hours that your backpack is advent apart, or your shoes are not going to last more than a few days….
Or that you only packed sufficient food for less than half the journey… Or perhaps you didn’t even tuck in a good survival knife….which is in reality something that too many folks will find out if they are packing cheap survival knives..
Survival
Nope, it would not be cool….
You are planning for survival here – and you do not have time nor the potential to start over, once a urgency hits…
In as far as a good backpack, you will want to go with a high potential pack but not one that weighs a ton….the same with all the survival outdoor gear that will be going Into the pack.
You will want potential without all the weight of quality.
When my hubby is looking for a new tent to add to one of our backpacks, he will be looking for the lightest tent with the most quality.
You may think it won’t matter either some item weighs 28 ounces or 34 ounces, but once you have everything packed into that seemingly easy to carry pack and are halfway up some mountain, you will be glad for every ounce you left behind!
The same goes for sleeping bags.
As far as survival food, my recommendation would be to go with as much freeze-dried foods as you can as they are not only lighter but also easy to get ready in an emergency.
